REQUIREMENTS: SCRIPT SUBMISSIONS
NEVER SEND YOUR SCRIPT/ MANUSCRIPT OR SCREENPLAY VIA EMAIL!!
FORMAT AND PAGE LENGTH Feature Films: A script for a full length feature film should ideally be 110-120 pages. Short Films: A script for a short film of approximately 5 minutes should ideally be 6-8 pages. A script for a 12 minute short film should be 10-15 pages. A script for a 26 minute film should be 24-35 pages. Sitcoms and Soap operas: In South Africa sitcoms and soap operas are usually 24 minutes per episode. Most sitcoms should be between 4 800 and 5 100 words in MS Word, word count. Television Dramas: A script for a one-hour television drama should be 50-60 pages per episode. The pilot episode could be carried over two episodes (A pilot episode is the first episode of a series that is evaluated to determine whether the entire series will be produced). Plays: A stage play could range anywhere from 10 - 120 pages. Novels: Between 85 000 and 120 000 words Short stories: Up to 30 000 words. Novella: Between 30 000 and 40 000 words. Reviews: A review should be between 850 -1000 words in MS Word, word count.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SCRIPT SUBMISSION:
Properly formatted: The script needs to be properly formatted, bound and printed.
No email submissions: No scripts/ manuscripts will be accepted via email, and will be deleted.
Post copies: Two copies of the script to be sent to: The Writing Studio; 203 Son Vida, Somerset Road, Greenpoint, Cape Town, 8005
