Dick  - the sci-fi legend whose work-to-film includes Blade Runner, Total Recall and Minority Report - comes this edgy animated feature directed by Richard Linklater. DR. SEUSS' HORTON HEARS A WHO
*****With his signature evocative and rhyming text, writer and cartoonist Dr. Seuss, an American treasure whose books have delighted generations of young people, opens one of his most beloved tales, Horton Hears a Who! Now, over fifty years since Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, published this perennial favorite, the makers of ICE AGE and comedy giants Jim Carrey and Steve Carell, bring it to life in a way never before experienced. For the first time, a motion picture transports audiences into Dr. Seuss' incredible imagination, through state-of-the-art CG animation. The film, like Seuss' book, presents an imaginative elephant named Horton (Carrey) who hears a faint cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Although Horton doesn't know it yet, that speck houses an entire city named Who-ville, inhabited by the microscopic Whos, led by the Mayor (Carell). Despite being ridiculed and threatened by his neighbors, who think he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to save the particle…because "a person's a person, no matter how small." Bonus Features: Audio commentary by directors Jilly Hayward and Steve Martino, deleted footage and animation screen tests, a feature on bringing the characters to life, and a fantastic all-new Ice Age short 'Surviving Sid'. Go behind the scenes  Read an interview with South African animator Dan Barker
HAPPY FEET ***** Compulsory for anyone looking for a serious injection of fun. George Miller's story of a young penguin named Mumble, born into a nation of Emperor Penguins who find their soul mates through song, will creep into your heart. You will be tapping away and singing to your own favourite tune. The story revolves around Mumbles (Elijah Wood), who can't sing a note...but he can tap dance something fierce! Mumble's inability to find his "heart-song" means that he can never truly belong, GO BEHIND THE SCENES; READ A Q & A WITH GEORGE MILLER
HOODWINKED  ***** A funny and witty romp that turns the world of fairytales inside out. Little Red Riding Hood: A classic story, but there's more to every tale than meets the eye. Before you judge a book by its cover, you've got to flip through the pages. For this story, we begin at the end. Furry and feathered cops from the animal world investigate a domestic disturbance at Granny's cottage, involving a girl, a wolf, and an axe. The charges are many: breaking and entering, disturbing the peace, intent to eat, and wielding an axe without a license. Not to mention, this case might be tied to the elusive "Goody Bandit" who has been stealing the recipes of goody shops everywhere. Hoodwinked not only breaks the conventional mold of fairy-tales.  It also breaks the mold of animation production, becoming an example of the new boom in a more iconoclastic, independent digital animation.  Bonus features include audio commentary by writer/director Cory Edwards,  writer/co-director Tony Leach, and writer/co-director Todd Edwards; deleted and extended scenes; the music video 'Critters have feelings'; and how to make an animated film. HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
***** Truly remarkable. Following proudly in the footsteps of Oscar-winners Wall-E and Up, this is the art of animation and the craft of storytelling in action. Set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, it is based on the book by Cressida Cowell.  The story centers around a Viking teenager named Hiccup, who lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life.  The teen's smarts and offbeat sense of humor don't sit too well with his tribe or its chief…who just happens to be Hiccup's father.  However, when Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens, he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter.  But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup's one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe. The bonus features include filmmakers's commentary, the technical artistry of the dragon and a featurette on the cast. Read more

ICE AGE 2: THE MELTDOWN **** What absolute fun! Set your imagination free with this imaginative and thoroughly entertaining roller coaster ride of pure cinema magic. The heroes from the blockbuster CGI film Ice are delighting in the melting water park paradise that is their new world. Manny, Diego and Sid soon discover that their melting world is getting a little too watery: a huge glacial dam is about to break threatening the entire valley. There's only one chance of survival so they embark on a mission across an ever-changing, ever-dangerous landscape towards their salvation. As much as audiences loved Manny, Diego and Sid - and the actors who voice them - the real breakout star of "Ice Age" was Scrat, whose squeaks, screams and other strange utterances happened to be voiced by that film's director, Chris Wedge. Says the filmmaker, who is one of the founders of Blue Sky Studios: "Scrat as a character is like someone dancing in front of everyone wearing only his underpants. He's just hapless."Go behind the scenes
THE INCREDIBLES **** Mr. Incredible is a superhero; or he used to be, until a surge of lawsuits against superheroes submitted by the people they've saved forced the government to hide them in witness protection programs so they could lead normal, anonymous lives. This is without a doubt the most fun you possibly can have at the cinema! What more can anyone ask for? It's innovative; the imagination bubbles over as the plot thickens and the adventure speeds up. It's also funny, filled with fantastic comedy routines peppered with hilarious dialogue. Go behind the scenes

THE MISSING LYNX
*** This exciting animated adventure chronicles the misadventures of a group of animals as they avoid being kidnapped by an unscrupulous hunter. But even the most experienced hunter will face endless problems trying to capture our animal heroes led by Felix, a jinxed lynx who ultimately prevails by commanding a rag tag bunch of brave animals. The hunter and the preys confront each other in this exciting game of survival and unlikely friendship and heroism.  Felix is living proof that Murphy's Law applies to the animal kingdom. For Felix, if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong (accidents, mishaps and the occasional natural disaster, not withstanding).  In a word, Felix is unlucky: a walking, bad-luck-charm, lynx. Perhaps this may explain why his species is dying out.  A regular guest at The Species Recovery Center (the local animal hospital), he's been at the shelter more than forty times since he was a cub.  So when Newmann's henchman strikes, kidnapping all the animals, it's Felix who organizes the escape to save his friends. 9 ***** Every frame is a masterpiece in this extraordinary creation that showcases the art and splendour of animation. Director Shane Acker's animated fantasy epic 9 is the feature-length expansion of his Academy Award-nominated 2004 short film of the same name. The screenplay for the feature is by Pamela Pettler (Monster House). The time is the too-near future. Powered and enabled by the invention known as the Great Machine, the world's machines have turned on mankind and sparked social unrest, decimating the human population before being largely shut down. But as our world fell to pieces, a mission began to salvage the legacy of civilization; a group of small creations was given the spark of life by a scientist in the final days of humanity, and they continue to exist post-apocalypse. Another of their own, #9 (voiced by Elijah Wood), emerges and displays leadership qualities that may help them survive and possibly even thrive. OPEN SEASON  **** You will fall hopelessly in love with two of the most endearing animated characters in years: Boog and Elliot. Boog (Martin Lawrence) is living the perfect life. In the tranquil town of Timberline, the genial grizzly bear enjoys all manner of creature comforts, courtesy of his surrogate mother, Beth (Debra Messing), the kindhearted forest ranger who rescued him as a cub. Boog relishes the perks of fame as the star of Beth's nature shows in the town's amphitheatre; and in Beth's converted garage, Boog watches his favorite tv shows, eats eight square meals a day and nestles in a comfy bed each night with his teddy bear, Dinkelman. Yes, Boog seems to have the perfect life -- until Elliot appears. Elliot (Ashton Kutcher) is a scrawny, fast-talking mule deer who arrives in town unconscious, missing an antler and strapped to the hood of a truck belonging to fanatical hunter Shaw (Gary Sinise). When Elliot awakes, he begs Boog to untie him. Boog finds Elliot's rapid fire pleas hard to ignore, and he releases the hapless mule deer. However, as if to prove that no good deed goes unpunished -- Elliot tracks Boog down to his home and lures him out for a crazy night on the town--a bender which results in both of them being relocated to the forest.   There's tons of bonus features, including commentary and games.
